REVENUE UP. YOU LESS INVOLVED.
I moved my birthday to Friday. My business didn’t notice.
THIS WEEK'S MESSAGE
• Why I skipped a day of work on my birthday and nothing broke
• The four people (and three AI tools) running my business while I’m gone
• What’s coming November 15: what broke, what I built, and what surprised me
Welcome back to Simply Rich Shifts. 🌴💸
This lands on Day 25. Tomorrow is the last day of my 26 days away from the business.
Last week was my birthday week, and I took the whole week off. No client calls. No sales calls. No team meetings.
Here's what I did do. One power hour a day. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Thursday was my birthday, so I skipped it and did Thursday's hour on Friday. Then I pushed Friday's hour to Monday and did it right before Monday's.
That's the entire report. My business ran on a calendar I rearranged on a whim, and nobody on my team had to ask me where I was.
At Jupiter Lighthouse with Mom
Fifteen years ago, a birthday off was not an option. I was running a senior home care franchise at $1M and 80 hours a week. If I wasn't there, the phone rang until I was. I didn't take a day off. I took a day "lighter," which meant answering texts from a restaurant table and pretending that counted.
Most of the owners I talk to around a million dollars are still there. You're proud of what you built. You also know that if you disappeared for a week, something would go sideways, and someone would call you to fix it.
So you don't disappear. You tell yourself it's the season, or the team, or the client who only trusts you.
It's not a people problem. It's a structure problem.

Here's who ran my business last week while I was eating birthday cake.
Isabella, my Growth & Scale Specialist, worked DMs and booked sales calls. She didn't forward them to me to approve first.
Lea, my social media VA, scheduled and posted every piece of content. The posts went out on time without me touching them.
Janet scheduled the newsletter email and the blog.
Claude, ChatGPT and Muse worked behind the scenes on everything I automated this year. Weekly content, call follow-ups, the briefings I read during my power hour.
And me. One hour a day. Movable.
That last line is the whole point of Phase 2 of The Simply Rich Business Experience. Phase 1 builds the structure: the four pillars of Structure, Systems, Support and Streamline. Phase 2 tests it. You step away on purpose and watch what comes back to your door.
Most owners skip the test. They build some systems, hire a good person, and assume it'll hold. Then the first real day off shows them it won't, and they decide stepping back isn't for them.
It is for you. You just haven't drawn the line in the sand yet.
Revenue up. You less involved. That's the order it has to happen in.
