The Men Booked Calls. The Women Said “I Loved It.”
Jun 28, 2026
This Week's Message...
- Same keynote. Same four pillars. Same room of 400 business owners. By Monday, the men had booked calls all weekend and the women had said thank you.
- This isn’t a men vs women problem. It’s a conditioning problem, and most women have been running the script so long it feels like personality.
- Women aren’t strangers to investing in themselves. They stop the moment that investment gets labeled “business capital” instead of “self-improvement.”
Dear Entrepreneur,
Last weekend I gave the kickoff keynote at the Achieve Systems Biz Explosion Conference. About 400 business owners in the room. Almost an even split between men and women.
I taught the same four pillars I teach every client. Same 45 minutes. Same content. Same room.
By Monday, my calendar told two different stories.
The men came up to me before I even left the stage. Confident. Direct. Several booked meetings with me that same weekend, before they’d driven home. They didn’t ask if it would work. They asked when we could start.
The women lingered after. Told me they loved the talk. Said it really resonated. Then walked away. A few had real conversations with me about their businesses. Fewer still will actually invest.
Same room. Same content. Same four pillars. Completely different response.
I brought this up Thursday at one of my favorite local masterminds. The one man in the room said it plainly: men are just more willing to take risks. The women in the room said something different. They’ve been trained to figure things out alone, quietly, because someone else always needs taking care of first.
Global research on women business owners backs up exactly what that room was saying. Women are almost 50% more likely than men to close a business for personal or family reasons, not performance ones. The business wasn’t failing. The order of operations was.
And before you decide this is a “women don’t invest in themselves” problem, here’s the part that actually surprised me. Women aren’t strangers to investing in themselves. Something like three out of every four life coaching clients in this country are women. Women want growth. Women pursue it. This isn’t about avoiding investment altogether.
It’s about what happens the second that investment gets relabeled. Only about 1 in 4 women entrepreneurs ever ask an outside source for funding, compared to roughly one in three men, even though women already receive a smaller share of it. The moment the ask is about business capital instead of self-improvement, something in the script kicks in and tells women to wait.
Researchers who studied how funding decisions actually get made found the same thing from a different angle. At low stakes, women get rated the same as men, sometimes better. The moment real money is on the table, the bias kicks in hard, and women’s pitches get rated significantly worse. Men get the benefit of the doubt exactly when it matters most. Women get the most scrutiny exactly when they’re asking for the biggest investment in themselves.
So let me be clear about what this is not. This is not a men vs women conversation.
This is a conditioning conversation.
Somewhere along the way, a lot of us got handed the same quiet script. Figure it out alone first. Prove you’re worthy. Only then are you allowed to ask for help. Nobody sat us down and taught us that on purpose. We just never had a reason to question it, until the bill for believing it started showing up in our revenue.
You can keep believing that script today. Or you can do what every fast-scaling business owner I’ve ever met actually does. Choose the path of least resistance.
I see the script running in my DMs every single day. A woman tells me, “Let me try to figure this out first. Then I’ll get help.” A man tells me, “Where do I sign.”
You don’t actually want to keep figuring it out alone. You want what the men in that room wanted. Speed. Traction. A path that doesn’t require you to prove you’ve suffered enough first. You’re not asking for an easier road. You’re asking for the faster one. The one you’ve already earned.
So here’s the identity shift I need you to make. You are not indecisive. You are not less ambitious than the man two seats over. You were taught that asking for help means you haven’t tried hard enough yet. That help is a last resort, not a first move.
None of that is true. It was just never challenged.
On December 30th, 2006, the second-to-last day of the year, I signed on the line to buy a vacant senior home care franchise territory. I had no money in the bank. No funding plan. No plan B. The doors didn’t even open until May of 2007. If anyone had a reason to figure it out alone, it was me, sitting there with an empty bank account and a contract that said I now owed a lot more than I had.
But I didn’t try to build a home care business from scratch and learn as I went. I chose the path of least resistance. I bought a proven business in a box. A framework that already worked. Support built into the price. Even with zero dollars to my name, I understood something a lot of women don’t let themselves believe. The fastest way to scale was never going to be alone. It was always going to be proven structure plus real support.
That franchise scaled to $3.3 million. I worked 16 hours a week by the end. I sold before I turned age 40.
That is exactly what The Legacy Business School and The Simply Rich Business Experience are built on. Not theory. Not “figure it out and I’ll cheer you on from the sidelines.” A proven four-pillar framework and the support to actually install it, so you stop white-knuckling growth alone and start moving at the speed the men in that room already trusted.
You do not need to decide right now which program is the right fit. That is exactly the kind of decision I do not want you making solo, sitting in your inbox, weighing it by yourself.
Go see how both paths break down on my Work With Me page. Or skip the homework completely and book a Scale Strategy Session with Isabella. Tell her where you are. Let her tell you which door is yours.
Because here is the truth underneath all of this. The women who scale fast are not the ones who figured it out alone the longest. They are the ones who stopped believing the script, and chose the path of least resistance instead.

P.S. Here is the line from that mastermind room I cannot stop thinking about. One woman said, “We’re trained to figure it out ourselves because we have to take care of everyone else first.” That’s not a personality trait. That’s a script you were handed a long time ago, and you’ve followed it so long it feels like instinct. This week, you get to choose. Keep believing it. Or take the path of least resistance, the same way I did on the worst financial day of my life. The men in that room never waited for permission. Stop waiting for yours.

A powerful thought to align your mindset with the way million-dollar women think and lead.

Shift
One small but strategic shift to refine your systems, reclaim your time, or generate aligned revenue this week.
Think of the last time you hit a wall in your business. Did you ask for help right away, or did you tell yourself you’d try a little longer first, just in case you could solve it alone? Time how long that “a little longer” actually lasted. That gap is not patience. It is the tax women pay for trying to prove they didn’t need help in the first place.
Momentum
Wins from women building $1M+ businesses without burnout. Real results. Real systems. Real shifts.
Jennifer met me at a speaking gig in 2024. She didn’t wait to think it over. Before I’d even left the stage, she walked straight up and said, “I need to work with you.” She already knew what she wanted, and she knew getting there with support would be faster than trying to get there alone. She’d run her digital marketing agency for 16 years, but it ran on people instead of systems. When a trusted team member left, the client knowledge and the processes walked right out the door with her. Jennifer rebuilt the agency around structure instead of memory. Today, her team runs it without her. Their words, not mine: “We’ve got this. Go build your next business.” She did. She’s now running a second business, full time, stress-free. That is what fast action and the right structure builds.
Fuel
Resources, prompts, and shortcuts designed to remove friction and move your business forward fast.
One uncomfortable question to ask yourself this week. You already know how to invest in yourself, you do it through books, personal development, and personal growth all the time. So what changes the moment that investment is labeled “business” instead of “self-improvement”? Write the honest answer down. That answer is the script talking.
